This man has been managing a 200 layer hen project for the past two and a half years. Last month he was able to buy this rice thresher with the extra income he was able to save from this livelihood project. Hard work and dedication pay off, in more ways that just financial. As the community begins to see the possibilities and benefits of such a project, we are excited to dream of new and even more effective ways to help them. It's a hand up, not a hand out!
And why do we do this?
Because we want to help the Ati community see their value in Christ. Decades of discrimination, from ugly traditional folk songs depicting them as dirty and poor to being characterized as stupid and unteachable in schools, have led this once independent indigenous community to believe the lie that they don't have value. They live in poverty, most making less than $7 a day. We want them to understand that Jesus loves them, died for them and wants them in His Kingdom. We want them to bring products of value and marketable skills to the local economy. By loving them in their spiritual and physical poverty, we can help empower them to be all God created them to be!
Your partnership with this growing ministry will help us continue to bring the light and love of Jesus to the Ati community in 2020. Next year’s mission budget stands at 67% of fully funded. Your partnership now is crucial!
